While the initial backlog of surgeries arising from the pandemic may have effectively been cleared, University of Toronto Prof. Michael Carter says Canada’s health-care system is still grappling with the “ripple effects” of COVID-19. “It could be this initial backlog is considered cleared, but the demand never stopped. It’s a struggle to catch up,” Carter, a CHE affiliate who specializes in health-care resource modelling, told the Star.
