Press Release – Ontario Investing up to $11.3 Million to Expand and Modernize Atikokan General Hospital

Through this project, patients in the Atikokan community will benefit from:

  • A modern facility that delivers better coordinated and integrated acute and long-term care
  • Four new acute care beds, bringing the total to 15 beds
  • Four new long-term care beds, bringing the total to 26 beds

Construction is expected to be complete in winter 2017.

Press release – WHO calls for urgent action to curb hepatitis

On World Hepatitis Day (28 July) WHO highlights the urgent need for countries to enhance action to prevent viral hepatitis infection and to ensure that people who have been infected are diagnosed and offered treatment. This year, the Organization is focusing particularly on hepatitis B and C, which together cause approximately 80% of all liver cancer deaths and kill close to 1.4 million people every year.

41st Annual Meeting of the EURO Working Group on Operational Research Applied to Health Services (19-24 Jul 15)

The EURO Working Group on Operational Research Applied to Health Services crossed the Atlantic this year to hold its 41th annual meeting in the welcoming setting of Montreal, renowned for its of Old World charm infused with North American energy but also for the plurality of cultures of its inhabitants.
